The Whitefish Theatre Company will present “The Clean House” at the O’Shaughnessy Center on Fridays and Saturdays, March 5, 6, 12 and 13, at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, March 7 and 14, at 4 p.m. The heart-warming comedy by Sarah Ruhl, a runner-up for the Pulitzer Prize, is directed by Nancy Nei. The South American flavor of the story involves a successful doctor with a neat and orderly life and home who hires a Brazilian cleaning lady named Matilde who doesn’t like to clean but dreams of being a comedienne. The doctor’s sister is obsessed with cleanliness and volunteers to clean for Matilde, while the doctor’s husband finds his soul mate in a vivacious, older Argentinean woman. Flathead Spay and Neuter Task Force will hold a community garage sale at Gateway Community Center, in Kalispell, on Friday and Saturday, March 5-6, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Buyers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food and/or pet food to receive credit towards garage sale purchases. Whitefish Foursquare Church, 233 Kalispell Avenue, will host the 37th annual Whitefish Community World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 5, at 1 p.m. Pastor Don Dukes, from Prayer for the Harvest Ministries, will be the featured speaker.

Big Mountain Commercial Association will hold its annual Winter Brewfest as a fundraiser for the SNOW Bus at the Whitefish Mountain Resort village on Saturday, March 6, from 1-5 p.m. There will be a “plethora” of microbrews and live music. A free seminar on the emotional and legal aspects of child custody disputes, co-parenting and divorce, “Marriage in crisis: what you need to know when the bottom drops out,” will be presented at the Whitefish Public Library on Saturday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to noon. A variety of free professional services will be available to registered attendees from 1 until 3 p.m. Sponsored by the HeartWorks Mediation Center, the panel of local experts will include Flathead County District Court Judge Katherine Curtis, Columbia Falls psychotherapist Anne Scott-Markle, Whitefish family mediator Brian Muldoon, Kalispell divorce lawyer Marybeth Sampsel, Family Court Services director Jolie Fish and Kandy Satterlee, of the Self-Help Law Center.

Chuck Suchy, nationally acclaimed singer, songwriter and farmer, will perform at the KM Theatre in Kalispell on Saturday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. Suchy has performed on Garrision Keillor’s radio show “A Prairie Home Companion.” He will perform songs from his latest recording, “Unraveling Heart.” Tickets are $10 available at the door. The Glacier String Quartet will perform chamber and baroque music from Italian and German composers at the Whitefish Middle School auditorium on Sunday, March 7, at 3 p.m. The quartet is comprised of Sam Taylor, Glacier Symphony concertmaster, and Deborah Ward on violin, Jenanne Solberg, GSC principle viola, and Janet Haarvig, GSC principle cello. Joining the quartet in two of the pieces will be GSC pianist April Lane and principle second violinist Michael Sporre. Desserts will be available to purchase at each of the concert venues. Glacier Babe Ruth will host clinics on Sunday nights at 6 p.m. starting Sunday, March 7, at the Whitefish Armory. The baseball league will also sign up players for the 2010 season. Player fees have been lowered to $75. Julio Delgado and Glacier Twins coach Lindsay Fansler will host the clinics. There is a $2 fee for each night. Monday

Flathead Audubon Society will present a talk by Steve Kohler on butterflies of Montana in the Summit’s Community Room in Kalispell on Monday, March 8, at 7 p.m. Kohler retired in 2004 after 33 years as a forest entomologist with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. He has collected butterflies from all over the world, published several papers on butterfly taxonomy and continues work on a Montana butterfly book.

Tuesday

The Back Country Horsemen of the Flathead will meet at the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Building in Kalispell on Tuesday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and all are welcome. The Back Country Horsemen is a volunteer organization dedicated to protecting stockowners’ use of wilderness and backcountry trails, education of horse owners on Leave-No-Trace principles and support to back country agencies. History Is Posh will meet in the Kalispell public library on Wednesday, March 10, with a business meeting at 4 p.m. discussing the Lower Valley driving tour, the St. Patrick’s Day parade, this summer’s rendezvous, a new history panel and the possibility of a two-act play about the Flathead Valley in the 1890s. Paul Strong, who has written several publications about Montana and the Flathead, will talk at 5:15 p.m. A Flathead resident for the past 25 years, Strong belongs to the National Association of Primitive Riflemen and a local Buckskinner group.
