Protect the Front

I read with great interest a series of articles about one of my favorite places — the Rocky Mountain Front. Nowhere else in Montana can we still witness what Lewis and Clark saw as they made their way through the state on their Journey of Discovery except through that of the Front.

I have had many wonderful experiences in the area, and I hope that future generations will continue to enjoy its beauty. Now is the time to protect this piece of sacred ground. For more than 100 years, people have come together to conserve this amazing place, and the Rocky Mountain Front Heritage Proposal is a crowning achievement of that effort. The wildlife and wild places deserve to be protected.

I respect the process that was undertaken to get to a point where many people agreed to a proposal that not only designates wilderness inclusions to the Bob Marshall and Scapegoat wilderness areas, but protects the roadless areas that make up more than 95 percent of the Rocky Mountain Front.

I think it's time we move this proposal forward. Please, Sens. Baucus and Tester and Rep. Rehberg, support the Rocky Mountain Front Heritage Proposal, and let's keep the Front intact for future generations.
