The recent Whitefish Pilot article about my running for trustee on the school board was not completely accurate or complete. Hopefully, this will clarify and add to the information presented.

Please contact me by cell phone (406) 253-2007 with questions or comments.

My background history includes being president of the Montessori school board, member of the Whitefish Resort Tax Monitoring Committee, Glacier Soccer Board, and assistant coach of youth football, basketball and soccer teams.

The paper quote should have been "freshman academy and becoming a 21 century school may not be the solution to the current school problems." I am 100 percent in favor of the latest technology and modern teaching methods if they are adequately explained to the public, quantified as to their value, funds are available and the administration/teachers are fully prepared for implementation.

Life is very difficult in this modern world and the pressures are tremendous. Students in Whitefish are under a microscope and every movement is monitored by school rules, police authority and parent expectations.

I believe students at all levels are basically good kids. They will be better educated and prepared for life if they are treated with more respect and are inspired with positive reinforcement.

It is no mystery that students are leaving the Whitefish School system and are not happy. Alternatives exist which are upbeat, provide a better education and make the students proud to be attending.

With existing union, budget and political constraints, building or remodeling the high school is not now feasible. Let's change the attitude and improve the internal workings of our schools.
