Residents will have to make some choices in the upcoming school board elections in the area.

BIGFORK

There will be three candidates to choose from for the two open Bigfork School Board positions up for election this year.

The deadline to file to run for the election passed last week. The two three-year terms for the Bigfork Elementary School District will be on the ballot for the May 4 election. The top two vote-getters will take the seats.

The positions are currently held by Thaddeus Jordt and Mike Roessman. Both are running for re-election. They will be challenged by Heather Postlewait.

Those who don't get their paperwork in on time still have another chance to file after the deadline. Write-in candidates can submit a declaration-of-intent form to run by 5 p.m. April 8 to the school district office.

SWAN RIVER

The May 4 election has been cancelled for the open position on the Swan River School District board after a candidate withdrew from the race.

Brooke Johnston contacted the district and pulled out of the election. That leaves Dawn Dowellgrim without a challenger.

Dowellgrim will step into a three-year position with the school board, replacing Mark Tudahl.

Tudahl, who has served two consecutive terms on the board, is stepping down from his third term as a trustee.

More information about the candidates will be available in the Bigfork Eagle in the coming weeks.
