The Columbia Falls High School golf teams punched their tickets to the state tournament by finishing among the top-three teams at the Northwestern "A" Divisional Tournament held last Thursday at Meadow Lake Golf Resort.

Tanner Lineberry's score of 85 led the Wildcats to a second-place finish behind defending divisional champions Whitefish.

Sophomore Parker Johnson's 92 and junior Jordan Mueller's 93 landed them in the top-ten while Nick Emerson's 103 rounded out the team score for the Wildcats. Junior Mike Cotton shot a 113.

The Polson Pirates placed third and will also compete at state next Monday and Tuesday at Village Greens Golf Course in Kalispell.

On the girls' side of the divisional tournament, Wildkats Kelsey DeWit (112), Michele Hagen (125) and Olivia Williams (137) placed in the top-ten and along with Courtney Tamburelli (138) shot a team score of 512 to finish in third place behind Polson and Whitefish. Freshman Morgan Love also competed for the Kats and finished at 142.

"Our kids rose to the occasion of playing on our home course for divisional, and they all battled through some tough golf conditions to get us to state," said Coach Gene Marcille. "This group has worked hard this season, and it's fun to see that hard work and dedication pay off.

"Also, we really appreciated the support of head professional Kyle Long and his crew at Meadow Lake as well as the support of our activities director John Thompson and the super group of volunteer markers who stepped up to make this a good divisional tournament."

State tournament play, originally scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, has been postponed until Monday and Tuesday, October 12th and 13th, starting at 9:30 each day.
