The Glacier Avalanche midget hockey team suffered a 5-0 loss Nov. 14 to the Copper City Kings from Butte.

The Kings out shot Glacier 46 to 11 in Saturday's game at the Stumptown Ice Den.

Butte opened the game with two quick scores early in the first period, with one coming on a power-play opportunity.

Glacier clamped down on defense for the next 28 minutes, holding Butte scoreless with scrappy play in front of the net by goalie Taylor Hulslander.

At the 10-minute mark of first period, Huslander made a great save on a shot from his blind side that ended another Butte attack.

With eight minutes left in the second period, it seemed as if Glacier might claw its way back into the match when Rutger Evans fired a shot on Butte's net that missed just wide of the post.

Butte weathered Glacier's comeback efforts and finally cracked through again at the 4:30 mark in the second period when a wrap-around shot trickled between Huls-landers knees to put the Kings on top 3-0.

The Avalanche had flurries of offensive opportunities in the third period, but struggled to find the net.

The Kings tacked on another goal late in the third to close the games scoring.

Glacier plays Havre Nov. 21-22 at the Stumptown Ice Den at 1:30 p.m. and 9 a.m.
