The 2009 Employment Exploration Expo will be Thursday, March 26 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Kalispell Center Mall. Join the Deer Park Doodlebugs 4-H Club for delicious chili, cornbread, potato soup and door prizes during a fundraiser Friday, March 27 in the Deer Park School gym. Hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Advance ticket cost is $4.50 per person or $20 for a two-parent/guardian family with three or more children. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 per person.

Dr. Eric Meyer’s series, “K2 2008: Finding Meaning After Tragedy,” is presented by Talus Outdoor Technologies and Columbia Falls’ First Best Place Task Force on Saturday, March 28. The free talk begins at 7 p.m. at Glacier Discovery Square. Meyer was part of the nine-person International K2 Expedition team that pushed for the summit of K2 in August 2008. While everyone in the Talus-sponsored expedition made it back safely, 11 other climbers lost their lives in the worst climbing disaster on the Himalayan Peak.

Columbia Falls Cub Scout Pack 101 is holding a food drive Saturday, March 28 at Smith’s Food & Drug from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations of food items will be accepted, including unopened packages of meat products. Such items as dog food, shampoo, laundry detergent and paper products are also welcome. The Scouts will give all items donated to the Columbia Falls Food Bank.

A fundraiser to help with the medical expenses of the Mark and Jenny Morgan family is set for Saturday, March 28. Featured will be a spaghetti dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Eagles Club in Columbia Falls, hosted by the Eagles Auxiliary. There will music by the Montana Old Time Fiddler’s Association. Donations are being accepted for a silent auction during the event. Raffle tickets for $2 each or three for $5 are being sold. The prize is $350 worth of Norsk seafood. Tickets can be purchased at the Moving Image, KAO Agency and Dr. Dean Calderwood’s Family Dental Center.

“Music of the Heart,” an evening of cello with local musician Lee Zimmerman is Saturday, March 28 at 8 p.m. at Imagine Health, 3-5 First Ave. W. Admission cost is $5. Zimmerman is one of the new cello innovators, layering sound as a painter to an easel.

The Columbia Falls Booster Club will host the CFHS Spring Sports Kickoff on Monday, March 30, at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Spring sports coaching staffs, athletes and their families are invited to enjoy an ice cream social and introduction of teams.
