NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Authorities in Nacogdoches, Texas, are on alert after signs promising a deadly mass shooting were found on and near the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

The university says in an alert posted on its Web site that several signs warned that students would be shot and killed Thursday. It says signs at an off-campus apartment complex warned that "10 people will be killed and shot" at the apartment block.

University spokesman Bob Wright says all campus police officers were called in to work Thursday, and officers from the Nacogdoches police, the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety were on hand.

Classes are being held as scheduled.

Nacogdoches is 150 miles southeast of Dallas.
