WEB UPDATE: Vikes fall to Bulldogs, out of tourney

The Bigfork Vikings lost their second game in the double elimintaion Northwest A Divisional Tournament on Saturday morning to Whitefish, ousting the Bigfork boys from the tournament.

The Vikes fell to the Bulldogs 78-53 at a 9 a.m. game in the consolation bracket. The top-ranked Bulldogs were coming off an upset at the hands of their rival Columbia Falls on Friday night.

On Thursday, the Vikings let their first game of the Northwest A Divisional Tournament slip through their fingers in a 50-43 loss to Polson.

Bigfork started the game strong with 19 points, led by Zac Hansen who scored six and Garrett Pewe who scored all five of his points in the first quarter. Defensively, they held the Pirates to 15.

But they gave the lead away in the second when they scored just one point while Polson put up 13. The Vikings were able to outscore Polson 10-8 in the third, but Polson scored another 14 in the fourth to Bigfork’s 13.

Brock Boll led Bigfork with 14 points, 12 of which he scored in the second half. Hansen scored 12 points, including three 3-pointers. Scott Taylor put up five points, all from the free-throw line in six attempts, and he grabbed eight rebounds. Pewe had seven assists.

Polson's Kyle Bagnell was the high scorer for the game with 17.
