The Columbia Falls Lions Club meets at 6:30 a.m. on the first and third Thursdays each month at the Back Room, in the same building as the Nite Owl Restaurant. Contact a Lions Club member for information about joining the organization.

The Columbia Falls Lions Club Summer Concert Series begins this Thursday, June 18 at the Don Lawrence Amphitheater in Marantette Park. Music begins at 8 p.m. Two lively groups kick off the series. Brass Werks has a 30-year existence and features the six best brass players in the valley, and the top percussionist and singer. They play music from “Bach to Basie” from more than 70 composers. The newly-formed SaxnOnPhun Brass and Sax Quartet also performs, and is led by Jack Miller. He is a saxophone authority and collector. Glacier Bank will be providing refreshments.Donations of $3 per person or $5 per family are appreciated. The audience is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets.

Farmer’s Market in Columbia Falls begins its second season Thursday, June 18 and the market has a new location. The market will be held each Thursday from June 18 through Sept. 17 at Glacier Discovery Square, 540 Nucleus Ave., from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The market is again sponsored by the First Best Place Task Force. The market provides a venue for the community to come together to enjoy tasty, local food, listen to quality music, and shop from local artisans and farmers.

Fellowship Alliance Church is hosting an evening Vacation Bible School. It is Monday through Friday, June 22-26 at the church, located at 1025 7th Ave. W. in Columbia Falls. Hours are 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Youngsters who will be in kindergarten through sixth grade in the fall are welcome to attend. There is no charge. For further information, call 892-4477.

The monthly luncheon meeting of the Flathead County Democratic Women will be held Monday, June 22 at 11:45 a.m. in the Winchester Room of the Outlaw Inn. Kirby Rierson and Amy Croover, field representatives for Sen. Max Baucus and Sen. Jon Tester, respectively, will provide the program. No reservations are required.
