Betty Huggins

Betty Lou Huggins, 77, passed away after a full and wonderful life on May 19, 2009. Betty was born March 26, 1932, in Saxon, Wis., to George and Edna LaVigne. Her family later moved to Montana where she met and married her husband, Fred. She was a beloved wife of 59 years and a caring, compassionate friend to all family members and anyone she met.

Prior to her final journey her travels took her through many states, foreign travel and bridge tournaments. The bridge tournaments were within Alaska, Arizona, Montana and Washington. There was never any type of card that she did not like to hold whether it was a bridge or Bingo card or a scratch ticket. She was also an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years. She had great respect and love for all of her sorority sisters.

Betty was also a beautician in Montana and Alaska. In Alaska she was a manager of a beauty shop with 25 operators. She also pursued an additional career with the U.S. Postal Service and retired as a government employee.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Fred, at the family home. Surviving children and spouses are Kathleen Pardee-Jones and Dr. Stan Jones of Haines Alaska; Christine Huggins of Washington, Charlene and Chuck Brey of Manitowoc, Wis.; and John and Kathy Huggins of Everett, Wash. She is also survived by her grandchildren and spouses, Daniel and Marta Pardee, Raymond Pardee, Ivanca Jones, Zdravca Jones and James A. and Hilary Smith, and great-grandchildren Jordan, Mikala, and Zachary Smith. Surviving sisters are Jen Holen of Auburn Wash., and Mary Dorothy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Betty is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews and their children.
