The Columbia Falls Lions Club meets at 6:30 a.m. on the first and third Thursdays each month at the Back Room, in the same building as the Nite Owl Restaurant. Contact a Lions Club member for information about joining the organization.

The Don Lawrence Orchestra will be featured during the Columbia Falls Lions Club Summer Concert Series this evening (Thursday). The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Don Lawrence Amphitheater in Marantette Park. The theme is, “The Columbians, THEN — the First 25 Years.” Led by Don Lawrence, the orchestra will play arrangements written by Lawrence during the first 25 years of performances by the Columbians. Donations of $3 per person or $5 per family are appreciated. The Columbia Falls Community Choir will be featured during the 7 p.m. Lions concert Thursday, Aug. 6. That is the final concert in the summer series.

Farmer’s Market in Columbia Falls continues today (Thursday) at Glacier Discovery Square in Columbia Falls to help kick off Heritage Days. Hours are 5 to 7:30 p.m. More than 60 vendors will offer produce, arts and crafts and lots of tasty food. Stephen Jackman will be featured on the South Stage. The music on his album “Band ’O Steve” is described as rollicking acoustic rock and jazzy folk with hints of urban, Latin, techno, blues and pop. The Upside Down Band performs on the North Stage. Allstate Insurance is the sponsor of this week’s market.

The West Glacier Farmer’s and Artisan’s Market is featured every Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. It is located at the West Glacier Mercantile west side parking lot on Going-to-the-Sun Road.

The Columbia Falls Historical Society will host a free presentation by Bruce Austin, who will speak about the history of the Jammer bus on Monday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. Jammer buses are used to transport visitors in Glacier National Park. The talk will be at the North Valley Hospital Community Center, 235 Nucleus Ave. in Columbia Falls.

Tuesday

The Columbia Falls High School Booster Club holds its first meeting of the 2009-2010 school year Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the teachers’ lounge at CFHS. The club is in need of officers, trustees and volunteers. The booster club raises money through memberships and fundraising events to support participants in CFHS extracurricular activities.
