Flathead Monsters going to nationals

Flathead Monsters are headed to the U-16 "A" Western Nationals in Phoenix, Ariz. The pool play games will begin on July 27 with double elimination play beginning on July 30. This is a four-game guarantee tournament with college coaches in attendance. The Flathead Monsters are mostly comprised of girls from Whitefish, Glacier, Flathead and Columbia Falls high schools. The team has gone 14-7-1 this season and is looking forward to great competition and college exposure in Arizona. A car-wash fundraiser for the team will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at SunShine/Whitefish Auto Glass in Whitefish on the U.S. 93 strip. The team hopes to raise $3,000 to $5,000 to cover expenses. Team members include coach Alan Compton, coach Lance Mortensen, Hailey Mortensen, Heather Bailey, Madison Tveidt, Bailey Tveidt, Kaitlyn Wehrli, Niki Birky, Madison Sandefer, Casidee Skiles, Christyne Hanson, Jessie Compton, Amanda Dunlap and Erin Fitzsimmons.
