Alpine Theatre Project will present its first musical of the season with the regional premiere of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” The multiple Tony Award-winning comedy will be performed in the Whitefish Middle School auditorium from July 9-26 at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays-Saturdays and at 6 p.m. on Sundays. The musical chronicles the experiences of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling bee championship of a lifetime and stars Betsi Morrison, Jodi Kimura, Nick Spear, Rebecca Spear, Mickey Fisher, Jarran Muse, Ryan Appleby, Charissa Bertels and Ron DeStefano. Glacier Symphony and Chorale will present ìSymphony Pops at Rebecca Farm on Saturday, July 11, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. for picnics and play. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. The charge is $20 per carload. Food vendors will be on site, and beer and wine will be available. Music selections will include movie scores from ìPirates of the Caribbean,î ìSouth Pacific Medleyî and ìSchindlerís List,î along with patriotic favorites such as ìAmerican Saluteî and ìStars and Stripes Foreverî and the classical finale from Dvorakís 9th Symphony ìFrom the New World.î Rebecca Farm is located on Spring Creek Road off West Reserve Drive in Kalispell. The Canyon View Grade School multi-school reunion will be held July 11 at Bohemian Hall behind Montana Coffee Traders on U.S. 93). Teachers and students who attended Canyon View, Valentine, Halfmoon, La Salle, Birch Grove, Deer Park, Lake Blaine, Bissell and Helena Flats schools through 1980 and their family members are encouraged to attend. Help is needed setting up tables and chairs at 11 a.m. The potluck dinner will start about 1 p.m. we will start eating. People are asked to bring a hot or cold potluck dish, silverware, plates and something to drink. The seventh annual Celebrate The Swan race will start on Highway 83 at milemarker 43 near Condon on July 11 at 9 a.m. The half-marathon will be follwed by 5K and 10K races beginning at 10 a.m. Dogs on leashes are allowed. The Back Country Horsemen of the Flathead will hold its annual potluck on Tuesday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at the Rebecca Farms pavilion (enter on Spring Creek Road). Guests are asked to bring a hot dish and a salad or dessert. A demonstration on how to pack correctly for backcountry travel will be presented after dinner. The Back Country Horsemen is a volunteer organization dedicated to protecting stockowners’ use of wilderness and backcountry trails, education of horse owners on Leave-No-Trace principles and support to backcountry agencies. The Whitefish Downtown Farmers Market will feature Greg Grant on Tuesday, July 14. Grant is a multi-instrumental recording artist who loops and whips guitar, vocal and saxophone riffs into an original genre-bending mix of jazz, folk and rock. Whitefish Theatre Company will offer four Tuesday concerts in July and August at the OíShaughnessy beginning at 8 p.m. following the downtown farmers market. Featured bands include the esteemed Cajun musical group Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet on July 14, bluegrass bass player Missy Raines and the New Hip on July 21, and the Irish musical group Grada on Aug. 11. Stumptown Art Studio will offer several adult art workshops and youth art camps this summer. Fused Jewelry is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Glass-artist Melanie Drown will guide adults in techniques that can be used in creating unique pieces of art.
