Mat Cats edged by Ronan, 42-35

Columbia Falls fell just short of Ronan in a Northwestern A Conference wrestling dual Thursday night (Jan. 29) at Columbia Falls High School as the Chiefs took home a 42-35 victory.

Earning wins by fall for the Mat Cats were Justin Whitman (112 pounds) and Sal Baccaro (98). Shawn Whitman (135) won a 13-0 major decision. Russell Plevel (140) came from behind for an 8-7 decision. Kelly Houle (189) worked his way to a 4-3 triple overtime win. Picking up forfeit wins were Doug Woodworth and Kodie Kenfield.

The Mat Cats were scheduled to host a jamboree Saturday (Jan. 31), starting at 9 a.m., to wrap up the regular season. They compete in the divisional tournament Saturday, Feb. 7 in Libby.
