| January 29, 2009 10:00 PM

Senior Grant Getts sank two free throws with 13 seconds remaining, lifting Columbia Falls to a thrilling 71-69 boys basketball victory over Class AA Glacier on Friday night at Columbia Falls High School. Getts was the Wildcat leader throughout the game, scoring 23 points and converting 13 of 14 free throws. He was 6-for-6 from the foul line in the fourth quarter, where he scored 10 points.

In girls hoop action Friday night, Columbia Falls held Glacier to two points in both the second and fourth periods en route to a 44-25 win over the Wolfpack. The DeWit sisters led the Wildkats in scoring as Kelsey netted 14 points and Kayla added 10.

Columbia Falls overcame a tough week of wrestling practice as the Mat Cats defeated Polson 47-34 and Whitefish 27-15 on Saturday at CFHS. The Mat Cats came back from an early 21-0 deficit to get the win over Polson, which avenged a conference loss to the Pirates early in the season. On Tuesday (Jan. 27) the Mat Cats were edged by Libby, 37-33.
