Patrick Jones, a two-year starter for Whitefish High School, has made a verbal commitment and signed a national letter-of-intent to join the soccer program at the University of Great Falls this fall. The school is an NCAA Division II program.

“(The Great Falls coaches) actually came to scout a game of ours,” Whitefish head coach O’Brien Byrd said. “They were very interested in his services. They had heard lots of good things.”

Byrd said the Great Falls coaches may have big plans for Jones.

“Most freshman are projects, but I think he really expects Patrick to come in right away as a freshman,” Byrd said. “He’s got some high expectations, and that’s good motivation for Pat to stick to his training. He has the skill set to play at the next level.”

Jones, 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds, was an all-state midfielder his senior season with the Bulldogs and was named a team captain.

Jones will be the first Whitefish player to join the Argos soccer team.
