Cornelius Meckler

Cornelius Alvin “Conn” Meckler, 84, passed away at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls on Jan. 12, 2009.

He was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Sidney. Conn was an avid motorcyclist and snowmobiler and had many friends in the Missoula area. On his many trips by motorcycle, he was always accompanied by his faithful dog Beanzie.

As owner of Meckler’s Upholstery, he was well-known for his skilled craftmanship. He was a member of the Eagles and much sought after by the ladies for his dancing skills.

He is survived by his daughter Connie Fawcett, of Whitefish; son Gerald Meckler, of Kalispell; brother Joe Meckler, of Sparks, Nev.; grandson Jason Fawcett, and Erin, of Seattle; nephews Brett and Billy and Jimmy Michels; cousin Dick Meckler, of Condon; special friend Marg Lang, of Calgary, Alberta; and many other nieces and nephews and cousins.

A memorial service is being planned for Conn in Missoula for late May or early June.
