Come undecorate this Saturday

By order of the Secretary of Decorating Doug Averill, the Village of Bigfork is asked to complete its final holiday obligation on Saturday, Jan. 10, and undo all the hard work that transformed the town about six weeks ago.

Organizers are calling for all elves, new volunteers and “flight leaders” to convene at Twin Birch Square on Electric Avenue at 8 a.m. Saturday to pack up Bigfork’s Christmas decorations for next year.

More than 100 elves showed up to spruce the Village up for the holidays in December, and the job of putting it all away is equally demanding; trucks, brooms, shovels and trash bags are all needed.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. boxes will be picked up from a trailer and the undecorating will begin, with care taken to ensure that the boxes full of lights and extension cords are accounted for and returned to the old fire house downtown.

Bow ladies are asked to remove all bows prior to Undecorating Day.

Christmas trees can be donated to the Flathead Lake Biological Station for use as erosion control by dropping them off at Crossroads Christian Fellowhsip at 7465 Highway 35 before Jan. 31. Trees can be dropped off anytime, but organizers ask that Sunday morning be exempt, so as not to disrupt the church service parking.

The biological station gives money to Friends of Bigfork Schools, a non-profit that benefits local schools, for each tree donated. For more information, call Mary Knoll at 249-8576.

After the work is done, there will be an After Glow Party at the Garden Bar compliments of Mark “Mister” Langlois.
