Arvidson rolls 300 game

Jody Arvidson says he does not take the sport of bowling too seriously, but now locked in his memory vault is the perfect game he rolled during the Tuesday Men’s League on Dec. 30 at Glacier Lanes in Columbia Falls.

Arvidson started his second game with a “turkey,” and by the time it was over he had rolled 12 consecutive strikes for a 300 game. His first game was a 238 and he finished with a 172 for a 710 scratch series.

“I’ve been close so many times,” the Columbia Falls native said of rolling a perfect game. “Until that 12th ball I expected to get tapped. I was hoping I wouldn’t fall down or something.”

A member of the Stock Building Supply team, Arvidson says he’s been bowling for more than four decades, since the age of 6. His previous high game was a 290 he bowled several years ago.

His best scratch series has been 784.

He sees bowling as much of a social activity as a competitive sport.

“I come down to bowl with my buddies,” Arvidson said.

The last 300 game at Glacier Lanes was rolled by Chris Martin during the Men’s City Tournament a couple of years ago.
