A pair of positions on the Bigfork School District Board of Trustees are up for election this May, and the district office is accepting petitions from anyone who would like to run.

Maureen Averill and Denny Sabo’s three-year terms are expiring this year and Sabo has aleady filed for reelection and Averill has indicated that she will turn in her paperwork before the March 26 deadline.

To be eligible for either position, a candidate must turn in a petition signed by five registered voters from the appropriate district, in which the candidate must also reside.

Candidates for Averill’s seat must live in the Bigfork Elementary School District and those for Sabo’s seat must live in the Swan River School District.

The election will be held on May 5. Voter registration for the district election closes on April 6 and absentee ballots are available on April 15. Same-day registration does not apply for school district elections.

Interested parties should contact the district office at 837-7400 with any questions.
