CFHS girls clinch divisional top seed

Columbia Falls manufactured a 27-point lead through three quarters and breezed past Bigfork 51-36 in Northwestern A Conference girls basketball Tuesday night on Larry Schmautz Memorial Court. The win gives the Wildkats an 8-1 conference record and the top seed in the Northwestern A Divisional Tournament next week in Kalispell. Bigfork dropped to 5-4 in conference games.

The Wildkats stormed to a quick 9-0 lead and the margin over the Valkyries was 27-11 at halftime. The Vals had only three field goals in the first half.

Kayla DeWit led the Wildkats with 17 points, and Alyssa Ladenburg added 14. Roxy Thurman paced Bigfork with 11 points, and Taylor Peck had 10.

CFHS will play a semifinal game in the Divisional Tournament on Friday, Feb. 27 at Glacier High School.

The CFHS girls and boys teams wrap up the regular season Saturday by hosting Ronan. The varsity girls game is set for 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity boys game around 6 p.m.
