CFHS girls stop Libby; boys lose to Loggers

Columbia Falls built a 15-point lead and held off Libby in the fourth quarter to post a 52-45 Northwestern A Conference girls basketball victory Thursday night (Feb. 5) on Larry Schmautz Memorial Court at Columbia Falls High School. The win pushed the Wildkats’ conference record to 6-0. Kayla DeWit led CFHS with 18 points, Alyssa Ladenburg added 11 and Shay Grilley nine. McKenzie Reeve had two key 3-pointers late in the third period. Jackie Mee led Libby with 17 points, and Brittany Martin had 16.

The Columbia Falls boys fell to 3-3 in the Northwestern A Conference with a 37-34 loss at Libby on Thursday (Feb. 5). The Wildcats trailed the Loggers by 12 after three quarters before rallying to within two points, but Libby held on for the win. Mackey Nolan led CFHS with nine points.

On Saturday (Feb. 7), the Columbia Falls boys host Polson (6 p.m. varsity) while the CFHS girls play at Polson (6 p.m. varsity).
