Little Guy Wrestling sign-up on Feb. 11 at Swan River School

| February 5, 2009 10:00 PM

Bigfork’s Little Guy Wrestling program is about to start up. Sign-ups are from 6 to 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Swan River School cafeteria. The first practice will be held at the SRS gym Feb. 16.  The team serves kids from all over the north end of the lake and is open to all who are in kindergarten through 8th grade.

The cost is $55 per wrestler, $30 of which covers registration, insurance and a T-shirt. The other $25 is for a deposit for the child’s singlet, which will be fully refundable at the end of the season.

There will be a shoe swap at sign-up night for anyone that is in need of borrowing shoes, but availability is on a first come first serve basis. Coaches are also asking that if anyone has extra shoes they are willing to donate that they bring them to sign-up night as well.

The program is six weeks long and practices will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for everyone, and additional practice for advanced kids will be held each Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. The group will participate in seven meets, all of which take place on Saturdays.

The first match for the Bigfork team will be the Feb. 21 Take Down tournament in Whitefish. On March 3 they will participate in the Little Vikings Tournament in Bigfork, which will only have kids from the Bigfork team in it and acts as a warm up to the team’s first actual tournament.
