Steele wins Nordic race in Essex

Whitefish High School junior Jack Steele took the top spot in the Kick Out the Kinks Nordic ski race Dec. 20 at the Izaak Walton Inn in Essex.

Steele, a junior at Whitefish High School, finished the 10-kilometer course in 28:50, twenty-one seconds ahead of second-place finisher Ben Morley, coach of the Glacier Nordic Ski Team.

Anne Miller, a senior at Whitefish, took third place.

Stella Holt, a junior at Whitefish who is making a comeback from a serious leg injury after a fall on Mount Gould in Glacier Park this summer, finished in 32:10. Holt won the 2009 Junior Olympic National Cross Country ski championship this past winter.
