The Columbia Falls Lions Club meets at 6:30 a.m. on the first and third Thursdays each month at the Back Room, in the same building as the Nite Owl Restaurant. Contact a Lions Club member for information about joining the organization.

Farmer’s Market in Columbia Falls continues today (Thursday) at Glacier Discovery Square in Columbia Falls. Hours are 5 to 7:30 p.m. As many as 60 vendors will offer food, produce and arts and crafts.Porter Creek will be featured on the South Stage. Sandy and Jim Bradford perform on the North Stage. Meadow Lake Resort is this week’s market sponsor.

The Columbia Falls High School Booster Club hosts its annual Blue and White Barbecue today (Aug. 20) from 5 to 7 p.m. in front of the high school to kick off the fall sports season. If there is inclement weather, the barbecue will be moved inside CFHS. Cost of the meal is $5 per person, with a choice of hamburger, cheeseburger or polish dog, plus chips and beverage. The barbecue is a fundraiser for CFHS athletics. Booster club membership applications will be available, and Wildcat and Wildkat athletic merchandise will be for sale.

The North Valley Eagles Auxiliary will host the monthly steak fry on Friday, Aug. 21. It begins at 6:30 p.m., and the cost is $10 per person.

The Flathead Democratic Party will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at the KM Theatre, 40 2nd St. E. in Kalispell. Guest speaker will be Rep. Cheryl Steenson. For more information, go to www.flatheaddemocrats.com.

Wednesday

There will be a public meeting Wednesday, Aug. 26 regarding the consolidation of the Essex, Nyack and Denny’s green box sites. These sites are to be combined with the county-owned green box site at Coram. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the West Glacier School, 160 Old River Bridge Road, West Glacier.
