Wildcat grid practice begins Friday

Columbia Falls High School practice for fall sports is on the horizon, with the first football workout set for Friday under new head coach Bill Coleman.

The other new head coach for CFHS fall sports is Richard Menicke. He takes over the cross country program from Stephen Gasche.

Menicke said the first cross country practice is Monday, Aug. 17, beginning at 7 a.m. Athletes are asked to meet on the west side of the CFHS gym. They must bring their completed physical exam and consent forms with them in order to participate in practice. Harriers are also asked to wear proper workout attire, including footwear, and to bring a water bottle. For further information, call Menicke at 871-3375.

Wildcat football practice begins Friday, Aug. 14. Workouts are from 8 to 10 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. Athletes who have not yet checked out football equipment can do so on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 5 p.m.

The first day for the other CFHS fall sports, except golf, is Monday, Aug. 17. Here is the first-day schedule:

Cross country – 7 a.m. at CFHS.

Boys soccer – 9 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.

Girls soccer – 7:30 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.

Volleyball - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Golf practice starts Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Meadow Lake Resort.

Cheerleader tryouts begin Aug. 17 and are held from 6 to 9 a.m.

In order to be eligible to practice or try out for any fall sport, student athletes must have a physical exam and turn that document into their coach prior to beginning practice. Athletes are also asked to bring proper clothing and footwear for workouts.
