Up to 14 more inches of snow expected from Essex to Marias Pass

Last week St. Mary saw about 10 inches of snow as a spring storm blew through. By Thursday morning, areas like Babb and Many Glacier could see up to two more feet of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologist Peter Felsch said a low pressure system was expected to drag cold air out of Canada and mix it with moisture from the Pacific Tuesday and through Wednesday.

From Essex to Marias Pass eight to 14 inches of snow are expected, with gusty winds in the 20 to 40 mph range. A winter storm warning has been issued.

The Flathead Valley, however, should only see the wind – not much snow is expected here.

Columbia Falls saw about two to three inches of snow Monday morning, but most of it had melted off by mid-day.

The weather is expected to stay cool and wet through the weekend, Felsch said.
