The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce’s Gone Fishin’ social will be hosted by Mountain Lake Mortgage and Piggyback BBQ at the Piggyback BBQ restaurant, 102 Wisconsin Avenue, on Thursday, April 16, from 5-7 p.m. Food and drinks will be provided.

North Valley Hospital will host a discussion on end-of-life care, planning and living wills on Thursday, April 16, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in The Valley Café, at the north entrance of the hospital. The American Association of University Women will host their annual used-book sale on Friday through Sunday, April 17-19, at the Kalispell Center Mall as a fundraiser for scholarships to Flathead Valley Community College. Saturday

Whitefish Theatre Company invites Flathead Valley senior residents and community members with disabilities to a free concert by the Gospel Hummingbirds on Saturday, April 18, from 3-4 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy. There will be ample seating for persons with wheelchairs and walkers, and hearing-assistance devices are available. Free transportation will also be provided on request. Flathead Valley Community College’s Logger Sports Team will host its annual home competition, Stumpjumper Days, on Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the FVCC Logger Sports Arena on the college’s Kalispell campus. Sixty-five students from four colleges and universities in the northwest region, including the University of Montana, University of Idaho, Colorado State University and FVCC will compete in various events such as axe throw, horizontal hard hit chop, obstacle pole buck, single buck and bonzaii logger. FVCC has hosted the annual competition since 1972, with the exception of 2006 when the new logger sports arena was under construction. Admission is free. A concessions stand will be on site, and food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The Whitefish United Methodist Church, 1150 Wisconsin Avenue, will hold an all-church rummage sale on Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to noon. All proceeds will benefit the Whitefish United Methodist Church’s principal mortgage fund. The second annual GrizzlyMan Adventure Race will take place Saturday, April 18, at the Lubrecht Experimental Forest and The Resort at Paws Up, east of Missoula. Racers must be proficient in mountain biking, trail running, paddling, map reading and navigation and expect to run or trek about 10-12 miles, paddle four miles of no more than Class II whitewater, and mountain bike roughly 20 miles while navigating to various checkpoints. Alpine Kids! Theatre Project will present Disney’s “High School Musical” at the Whitefish Middle School auditorium on Sunday through Tuesday, April 19-21,with shows at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The stage production, directed by Betsi Morrison and Luke Walrath, is based on the Disney Channel original movie “High School Musical.” Alpine Kids! Theatre Project is an educational outreach program aimed at giving local students a hands-on theater education through performance. Tickets are $15 adults, $12 students and $7 children under-12.

Flathead Audubon will lead a bird-watching trip to Smith Lake Waterfowl Production Area on April 19. Participants might see sandhill cranes, grebes, ducks, mountain bluebirds, meadowlarks, bald eagles, ospreys and marsh harriers. The Flathead Valley Chapter Trout Unlimited will host Bruce Farling, executive director of Montana Trout Unlimited, for a round-robin look at Trout Unlimited’s work on behalf of Montana’s best fisheries from the Flathead to Yellowstone at Fish Wildlife and Parks’ public meeting room at 490 North Meridian Road, in Kalispell, on Tuesday April 21, at 7 p.m.

The Flathead Democratic Party will hold its Flathead County Convention and election of officers on Tuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in the KM Theatre, 40 Second Street East, in Kalispell.

A Women’s Spiritual Circle will meet on Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at the home of Ina Albert, at 955 Northwoods Drive in Whitefish. At least seven faith groups have expressed interest in organizing such a group.
