Veterans Memorial

| October 30, 2008 11:00 PM

Recently the Veterans Memorial in the veterans section of the Whitefish Cemetery was completely restored from the ground up. The work included a new foundation, steps, engraved granite memorial with bronze plaque, planter box, and flag pole solar light.

The memorial will be dedicated on Memorial Day 2009. The final results exceeded the expectations of the committee — Carla and Morrie Neugebauer, Montana Rep. Bill Beck and Bill LaBrie.

The committee would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their donations, contributions, labor and talent: Nelson's Hardware, Ben Franklin and Western Building Centers for donations of materials; Midway Rentals for donating equipment; Doug Brown Jr. and David Brown of Back Country Concrete for finishing the foundation and steps; Knife River for donating and transporting concrete; Cost Less Carpet for discount on granite and technical support; Jerry Bell of Stone Edge for installation of granite; Big Sky Monument for donation of engraving; Whitefish Lake Golf Course for allowing time for Carla and Morrie Neugebauer to work on project; and the Veterans Administration for financial assistance.
