Who are you?

| October 16, 2008 11:00 PM

Where to start? When I retrieved my mail this morning, I was greeted by perhaps the most disgusting piece of political slander that I have seen in a long time. This being a "message" from the Montana Republican Party and apparently from John Fuller informing me about all of the bad things they say Mike Jopek is all about.

First, I am dismayed to see a party I was once proud to be a member of stooping to such political lows as this piece of garbage that was put in our mailboxes. Surely the Republican Party and Fuller can do better than this.

Second, to Mr. Fuller I ask, "Who are you?" In the years I have spent in business and development organizations, and in the years I spent on the city council in Whitefish, I can remember not one time of seeing Fuller taking part in our community.

On the other hand, Jopek has consistently taken part in community affairs for as long as I can remember, countless meetings, endless hours and always being a voice of moderation, consistently putting the interests of the community first. Jopek has always asked what does this community want, what are its values and has represented those values in Helena for us.

To John Fuller and to the Republican Party I say stop the lies and the half-truths. Get back to the moral high ground, stick to the issues and your moral convictions and quit the un-truths and desperation found in the piece of garbage I found in my mail box this morning.

Just so you will know what your message did for you Mr. Fuller, I want you to know that I called or visited 10 of my friends today and asked each of them to vote for Mike Jopek, and I asked each of them to call 10 friends in Whitefish and ask the same of each of them.
