Whitefish has a new bridge crossing the Whitefish River. Neal Structural Repair, of Plains, used two heavy-duty cranes to set the Rocksund-to-Monegan bike trail footbridge in place on Saturday. The steel bridge with wood decking was fabricated by RTI, of Plains. Eichner Builders, of Bigfork, was the general contractor. To see the bridge, turn left off JP Road onto Shiloh Avenue and then right on Lena Joy Drive. The bridge is closed to the public until spring. Sandry Construction, of Kalispell, is the general contractor for the bike trail on the east side of the river, which will be completed by next spring, providing a route to Monegan Road.
