BLUAC meetings switched for holidays

The Bigfork Land Use Advisory Committee will keep a slightly different schedule in the coming weeks to accomodate the holidays.

In November, BLUAC will meet next Tuesday, Nov. 25, since the group's normal meeting dat of the last Thurday of the month falls on Thanksgiving. That meeting will take place at 4 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church.

Because the normal schedule would also place December's meeting on Christmas Day, there will be no meeting in December and the board will meet next on Jan. 5 at 4 p.m.

The committee is meeting with the Flathead County Planning Board at 6 p.m. tonight, Nov. 20, for a workshop on the Bigfork Neighborhood Plan. A workshop originally planned for mid-summer was postponed indefinitely pending a decision on language in the zoning regulations by county commissioners.

The draft plan, which has been in the works for about four years, still needs approval from the planning board and the commissioners.

At the June workshop meeting that was quickly postponed, planning board members praised the neighborhood plan for the polling and scoping behind it as well as the detail and clarity written into it. But board member Mike Mower said that until the commissioners make a decision about the zoning language, working on the plan is pointless.

"I think we're wasting our time," he said. "I don't think we need to review this until the commissioners make a decision."

The workshop session is open to the public.
