BHS to hold graduation ceremony on Saturday

The Class of 2008 at Bigfork High School will don their caps and gowns this weekend as the school holds its annual commencement ceremony.

The event will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, in the BHS gymnasium.

BHS graduates 72 seniors this year, with some staying close to home working or going to Flathead Valley Community College and others planning to attend far-flung universities like the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Among this year's graduating class are newly-named Class A triple jump state champion Roland Benedict, National Merit Scholar Hadley Vandiver and most of the Northwestern A Division Champion Valkyrie basketball team.

This year's commencement speaker is BHS English teacher and Norse Code student newspaper advisor Charlie Appleby.
