Copperheads drop Whitefish 3-2 on the road

In Anaconda on May 8, Lady Bulldog Desiree Clarke knocked in three runs, including a two-run homer, to lead Whitefish against the Lady Copperheads in a 5-8 loss. The Lady Bulldogs fell to 7-9 overall.

"We were pretty well matched up with Anaconda," head coach David Dachs said. "We were pretty banged up, so we didn't have the strongest line-up out there. We had the home run, but that can be a mixed blessing because they are wanting to hit another one. I told the girls I would rather have a bunch of singles than a two-run home run, because that's just two runs, and you aren't going to win many ball games with just that."

Dachs said he's seeing improvement in the team's defense, but he wants his girls to work on the mental side of their game.

"They kind of learned in Butte that they can't just show up to win ball games," he said. "We're going to put a positive spin on things, but they know they have to come mentally prepared to win."

Adele FauntLeRoy had a nice game for Whitefish, going 2-for-4, as did Shelbi Long and Kristi Whisler. The Lady Bulldogs again had a problem with leaving runners on the bags. Taylor Ybarra-Brunty, Clarke, and Devyn Ost each had one hit for Whitefish.
