Bonnie Kienlen

| May 8, 2008 11:00 PM

Bonnie 71, a long-time resident of The Dallas, Ore., went home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 25, 2008. She was surrounded by her family and went in peace.

Bonnie was born in Scobey on Jan. 5, 1937 to George and Bertha Grainger. Her parents, sister Loretta and brother Bill lived in Columbia Falls. She was a majorette for her high school and always loved to tell the story when they went to the train meet President Truman and he told her, "Young Lady, go put some clothes on" as it was winter, and they were just dressed in their majorette uniforms. She graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1955. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Seattle, Wash. with a friend and went to work for a bank. She stayed in Seattle for a few years and then moved to the dalles were her parents had relocated.

That is where she met her life-long love and companion, Don Kienlen. They married shortly after April 19, 1958 and Thn Dalles became their home.

Bonnie loved to cook and was always willing to share her gift with others in their time of need, or just because she wanted to. For several years until she retired, she worked at Westgate Market in the Chenoweth area of The Dalles. She enjoyed people and always loved the young children that came into the store. She became Grandma Bonnie to many. She volunteered at the local Gleaners Program.

Bonnie and Don recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to the Oregon coast. She loved the Beauty of the coast and enjoyed the time that they had while celebrating their special day. She will be loved and remembered for ever by her husband, Don; daughter, Tammy and husband Mike Dumant of Montana City; son Brian Kienlen and wife Ronda of Scappoose, Ore.; son Jeff Kienlen and wife Jill of The Dalles. She has six grandchildren, she loved her children, but her grandkids had her heart. She was a wonderful, loving wife, mom, grandma, neighbor and friend. She will be truly missed by all of those that knew her.

The family invites everyone to a celebration and remembrance of her life on May 3 at 2 p.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, The Dalles.

Remembrances can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
