All-Conference players announced, Little Guy goes to state, Bigfork Middle School finishes basketball seasonsBigfork High School's Roland Benedict and Brock Boll were among the Northwestern A boys basketball players selected to the 2007-2008 All-Conference Team. Benedict received 2nd team All-Conference honors, while Boll was honrable mention.

Benedict, a senior point guard for the Vikes, led the team in a number of statistical categories this season as well as being among the top 10 in the conference in many of those categories. At the end of the regular season, Benedict led the Northwestern A in steals per game with 3.56. He was sixth in the conference in 3-point field goals (21-for-60), combined field goal percentage (39.52 perecent) and total points (13.72 per game). He finished the season with 41.33 percent 2-point field goal shooting and 4.67 rebounds per game. Benedict also dished out 2.39 assists per game throughout the regular season.

Boll, who has one more season left with the Vikes, shot 35 percent from 2-point range this season. He was 10th in the conference. Boll's three regular season blocks tied him for ninth in Northwestern A standings with an average of .17 blocks per game. He also tied for fourth in the conference in rebounds per game. He pulled down 37 offensive rebounds and 70 defensive boards this year for a 5.94 per game average.???????????There are eight wrestlers going on to state in Missoula this coming Saturday. All the boys worked hard and it was a really tough tournament with a lot of really good competition. ? 2nd place: Wyatt Mischke (beg. 60)? 3rd place: Ron Loudermilk (junior 145) and Nico Carie (junior 95)? 4th place: Vinny Quirk (middle 100), Colton Oster (middle 120) and Chance Batin (middle 65) Matthew Sefcak, Jake Tudahl and Andy Russell also qualified to go to state by placing in the top 8 of their weight brackets. Only Novice, Middle and Junior participate in the Western Montana Little Guy State Championship, so Wyatt Mischke will not be participating, even though he took second.???????????Under the guidance of coaches Tanya McAnally and Bud Shults, Bigfork Middle School's 7th and 8th-grade girls basketball teams worked their way to 7-9 and 11-5 seasons.

The 7th-grade team put together two win streaks during the season, beating Kalispell and Columbia Falls to start with. The team won both games against Columbia Falls and Ronan.

Shults' 8th-grade team lost three of their five by less than five points after stringing together a five-game winning streak which included wins over Polson, Somers, Kalispell, Eureka and Ronan. Bigfork swept Columbia Falls, Kalispell, Somers and Whitefish.
