Rolls his eyes

| March 13, 2008 11:00 PM

I roll my eyes in wonder. Sen. Max Baucus, surrounded by Gov. Brian Schweitzer and Sen. John Tester, tells a packed audience at Flathead Valley Community College that BP will not drill for coalbed methane in Canada, and the audience applauds.

How much more honest it would have been if his announcement had more accurately been stated like this: "I am pleased to give you higher energy bills, thanks to your Democratic politicians who beat up on British Petroleum and the government of British Columbia, a province of a sovereign country and the United States' greatest trading partner, Canada."

While we grumble about prices at the pump and the cost to heat our houses (global warming having taken a rest break this winter) our Democratic-elected politicians take great delight in thwarting exploration of natural resources of all kinds.

They have succeeded in doing this in our own country for years, hence our reliance upon foreign oil and gas. Now they have become so emboldened as to export their message to our friends in Canada.
