Though they only had eight players, including a middle school girl, the Bigfork Vals basketball team still won two of their three games at last weekend's Flathead/Glacier tournament.

They lost to Spokane's Central Valley 65-35, they beat Flathead 27- 20, lost to Glacier 32-28, lost to Canada-1 50-46, and beat Canada-II 42-25.

"Overall we played some teams with great overall quickness," said coach Mark Hansen. "We were impressed by all the teams from Washington and Canada that gave the girls that played valuable experience at breaking man presses."

Bigfork was short on players because so many of the team members had to work over the weekend.

"I thought the ones that played gained some great insight into what style they will be required to play this coming winter," Hansen said.

"Again I was impressed with how hard they worked and how well all the under classmen gelled with the two seniors. We still pressed and pushed the ball most of the time, which led to fatigue and some close losses to schools twice or three times our enrollment."
