Bigfork High School had to look no further than its own back yard for a new activities director.

High school principal Thom Peck announced Matt Jensen's hiring as AD on May 29.

"He was the most familiar and adept to our questions," Peck said. "He's the best fit to take over the program."

Jensen, a government and economics teach at BHS for four years, takes over for outgoing AD Shannon Smith who is headed for a teaching job at Glacier High School in Kalispell. Jensen has also coached basketball and tennis while at BHS.

"I'm interested in helping student athletes and coaches in any way and serving the community," Jensen said. He added that he would look to set goals for the next year after meeting with coaches. "I'm pretty anxious to get going."

Peck credited Jensen's demeanor and work ethic as being beneficial to the job and Smith agreed.

"Bigfork's in very good hands with Matt (Jensen)," Smith said.
