Lee Rost, 77, passed away July 14, 2008, at his home in Bigfork.

He was born to Ludwig and Clarice (Chapman) Rost on Sept. 29, 1930, at the place in Bigfork his grandfather homesteaded in 1897.

Lee grew up there and learned to farm and use horses at a very young age.

As an adult he held many different positions. He had a logging business, an outfitting business, created several subdivisions and did many other things.

He loved working outdoors, especially with horses and machinery. He enjoyed working with young men, teaching them what he could about logging and outfitting.

He deeply loved his children and grandchildren and was totally awed by his great-grandchildren.

He was a charter member of the Little Brown Church.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one sister and one brother.

He is now survived by his wife Bernice Rost, of Bigfork; son Leslie Rost, of Kalispell; daughter Deb Powell and husband John, of Bigfork; grandchildren Bill Brandewie and wife Renee, Kala Brandewie and Becca Brandewie, all of Bigfork; great grandchildren Taylor and John Brandewie; brothers Maynard Rost, of Bigfork, Robert Rost, of Ronan, and John Rost, of Whitefish; and sister Madeline Utter, of Eureka.

Funeral services were held July 16, 2008, at the Little Brown Church. Burial followed at Lonepine Cemetery in Bigfork.
