Anderson leads CFST to second at Cut Bank Invitational

Erik Anderson broke the pool record while winning the 100-meter breaststroke at the Cut Bank Invitational last weekend and also won two other events, leading the Columbia Falls Swim Team to second place.

The Shelby Water Otters took the team title with 993 points in the 10-team field. The CFST was runner-up with 852. Following were Conrad with 758, Fort Benton 595, Bitterroot 556, Chester 498, Cut Bank 492, Choteau 166, Fairfield 142 and Sunburst 126.

Anderson's time of 1:06.31 in the 100 breaststroke broke the Cut Bank pool record. He also won the 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly. He earned high-point honors in the 15-19 boys division.

Colton Babcock and Vincent Erickson each won two open events. Babcock won the 25 breaststroke and 100 IM, and was second in high-point standings in 8 & Under boys. Ericksonwas first in the 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke; he was third in high-point in 13-14 boys.

Dalton Nelson was third in high-point in the 11-12 boys age group.

Two CFST relay quartets also picked up victories. Daniel Seymour, Cooper Babcock, Sam Gargasz and Colton Babcock swam to first place in the 100 freestyle relay. Colin Norick, Colton Babcock, Seymour and James Role teamed for top honors in the 100 medley relay.

CFST head coach Mike Nelson praised Colin Norick, who took 30 seconds off combined times in his events.

The team competes in the Shelby Invitational this Saturday and Sunday.
