Whitman second in 5K at Whitefish Lake Run

The 31st annual Whitefish Lake Run drew a huge field of competitors to Whitefish City Beach on Saturday morning. The weather was beautiful, and after the race the runners mingled and shared muffins, bananas and laughs.
Shawn Whitman, who will be a junior this fall at Columbia Falls High School, earned second in the 5K men's race. His time was 17:15.9. Veteran runner Mark Tarr finished eighth with a time of 19:02.8. Michael Kruse, also of Columbia Falls, was 10th (19:14.1).
