Bernadette Good

Bernadette Ann "Bernie" Good, 84, of Kalispell, "went home to be with the Lord" on Jan. 23, 2008.

She was born in Cadillac, Mich., on June 26, 1923, to John Vernon and Clara Josephine Runyan. She moved to Whitefish as a young child and graduated from Whitefish High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation she joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Le Jeune, N.C., where she met and married Kenneth Tamblyn.

Together they had two children, Mary Ann and James. They divorced and she returned to Whitefish where she met and married Howard Good in 1948. Together they had one son, Douglas.

Bernie worked various jobs throughout her life before retiring from the housekeeping department at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in the early 1980s.

She was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Kalispell, where she enjoyed her faith and Catholic sisters and brothers.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard; parents John and Clara; sister Bertha Harris; and brothers Bernard Runyan and Charles Runyan.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Stai and husband Lloyd, of Redding, Calif.; son Jim Tamblyn, of San Jose, Calif.; and son Douglas Good and wife Jo Ann, of Columbia Falls; grandchildren Howard Stai, of Crockett, Calif., Daniel Stai, of Brentwood, Calif., Kimberly Sutherland and husband David, of Surprise, Ariz., Terra Tamblyn, of Bigfork, Angela Burns, of Kalispell, and Lindsay Good, of Los Angeles; and six great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Brendan House for the excellent care they provided over the last couple of years.

Memorial services were held Jan. 26, 2008, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with Deacon Fred Topp officiating. Urn burial will be held later this summer at Whitefish Cemetery.
