CFHS sweeps Flathead in basketball; Mat Cats second in Eureka tourney

Columbia Falls basketball teams swept Flathead High School in a varsity doubleheader Friday night (Dec. 19) in Kalispell.

Alyssa Ladenburg scored on a breakaway with 10 seconds to go after a pass by Kelsey DeWit, and the Wildkat girls rallied from an nine-point deficit for a 49-47 victory.

In the boys game, the Wildcats outscored Flathead 28-13 in the third period and cruised to a 67-49 win over the Braves.

On Saturday (Dec. 20), the CFHS girls lost to Missoula Sentinel 74-53 and the Wildcat boys fell to Sentinel, 57-41.

Sal Baccaro, Justin Whitman, Kelly Houle and Kodie Kenfield earned individual championships, leading the Columbia Falls wrestling team to a second-place finish in the Buzz Lucey Memorial Tournament on Saturday (Dec. 20) in Eureka. In a Thursday dual, the Flathead junior varsity posted a 42-36 win over the Mat Cats.
