Lillian Stackhouse

| August 21, 2008 11:00 PM

Lillian J. Stackhouse passed away on Aug. 10, 2008, at the age of 94.

She was born on April 26, 1914, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Ertie and Mary (Byrne) Jones.

During her childhood, Lillian's family moved from Missouri to Arkansas and New Mexico before settling in Whitefish. In 1936, Lillian married Paul Forcum and in 1942, they moved to Portland, Ore., bringing their eldest son Richard with them. Five years later, they welcomed another son, Bruce, into their family.

As her children grew, Lillian worked for the Oregon State Highway Right-of-Way Division and as a budget supervisor for the Tax Supervising and Conservation Commission of Multnomah County until her retirement in 1976.

While working and tending to her family, she also found time to be active in her church and in local theater groups.

Lillian and Paul divorced in 1962, and in 1965 she married Garth Stackhouse. She enjoyed playing golf and traveling, both inside and outside the U.S., but most of all she enjoyed her family.

An avid golfer, Lillian helped to organize the "Over 80s" golf group at Summerfield in Tigard. The "80" refers to age, not score.

She is survived by sons Richard Forcum, of Bend, Ore., and Bruce Forcum, of Portland; stepson Don Stackhouse, of San Antonio, Texas; stepdaughter Sue Stackhouse, of Payette, Idaho; sister Elsie Schneider, of Naples, Fla.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren.

Services for Lillian were held on Aug. 15, 2008, in Tigard, Ore.
