Charles Carlson

Charles A. "Chuck" Carlson, 84, of Kent, Wash., passed away July 24, 2008, at Veterans Hospital in Seattle after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Ralph and Lona Carlson.

Chuck served in the Army during World War II.

He moved to Whitefish in 1942. He was employed by the Great Northern Railway until 1960, then worked in construction, and later moved to Kent and became a real-estate broker.

Chuck enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially ducks. He traveled many miles in his motor home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ed Carlson; sister Helen Reardon; former wife Peggy Stimer Carlson; and granddaughter Lori Kaber.

Chuck is survived by his wife Lois, at the family home in Kent; daughters Charlotte Kaber, of Kalispell, and Linda Kajiwara, of Anchorage, Alaska; stepdaughters Linda Henry, Glenda Harrell and Rosanne Vansteenvoordt; stepsons Bryan Arsenault and Daryn Arsenault, of Kent; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Aug. 4, 2008, at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, with military graveside honors.
