The first of what organizers say they hope will be many health fairs will be hosted at the Montana Athletic Club in Bigfork on April 16.

The gathering of health care providers from all ends of the spectrum will convene to offer free screenings, tests and advice to all ages and for nearly every ailment.

Organizer Jennifer Bach said that part of the reason she wanted to put on the fair was to showcase the variety of health care providers and options that exist in Bigfork.

"There's so much here in Bigfork that no one really knows about," she said.

Almost a dozen Bigfork organizations and offices will set up booths around the MAC and participants at the free event can make the rounds with "passports" to make any notes about the information given as well as to collect stamps to be eligible for prizes.

Bach said prizes include dinner for two at Showthyme, a fishing trip on Flathead River and a night's stay at the Bigfork Cottages.

Some of the services offered at the fair will include blood pressure screenings, vision screenings, information about cancer prevention and treatment and a body fat composition measurement, among others.

The event will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. on April 16 at the Montana Athletic Club on Holt Drive in Bigfork. For more information, call Bach at 837-0281.
