Already enough red tape

| April 3, 2008 11:00 PM

As a resident of Flathead County for almost 50 years, and a property owner in both the county and the city of Whitefish, I am very concerned about Resolution 1783A.

There are already enough state and county laws and regulations in place to protect the environment of our county. We do not need any more “red tape” to tie up private property rights.

These proposed rules and regulations will not only affect the “doughnut” area, they will cost all of us thousands of taxpayer dollars in litigation expenses, engineering costs, expert advice and other unforeseen costs.

We have elected our city and county officials to work with the people. The number one concern in Whitefish and surrounding communities is affordable housing. Every time a new regulation is adopted for new construction, it boosts the cost of property and building.

Let’s stay focused on the important issues and stay away from more government intervention.
