Pachyderm meets Oct. 19

The Glacier Country Pachyderm meeting will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Bulldog in Kalispell on Friday, Oct. 19. Guest speaker BJ Grieve of the Flathead County Planning Office will present the "Update Growth Policy Implementation Plan." Lunch is $4 to $10 and the meeting is open to the public.

Quilt Guild meeting Oct. 20

A Teakettle Quilt Guild meeting is set for Saturday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. at the North Valley Community Center, 235 Nucleus Ave. in Columbia Falls. Members will assemble the Guild's scrapbook. Guests and new members are welcome.

Cat Adoption Days Oct. 20-21

Cat Adoption Days will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20 and 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Spay & Neuter Clinic at 3491 Trumble Creek Road, just southwest of Columbia Falls — one mile west of Highway 2 and 2.5 miles north of Glacier International Airport. FCDW luncheon Oct. 22

The regular monthly luncheon meeting of the Flathead County Democratic Women will be held on Monday, Oct. 22 at 11:45 a.m. at the Red Lion Inn in the Kalispell Center Mall. Kirby Rierson, field coordinator for Sen. Max Baucus, will be the guest speaker. Kirby will talk about the 2007 Montana Faith Community Impact Summit organized by Baucus and held recently at FVCC.

The cost of the luncheon is $10. No reservations are required and everyone is welcome to attend.

CF Women's Connection hosts event

The Columbia Falls Women's Connection hosts an evening program and potato bar on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Valley Baptist Church, 1750 Talbott Road. The cost is $7.50 per person.

FBA hosts social Oct. 23

The Flathead Building Association holds its "Raise the Roof" public social on Tuesday, Oct. 23, starting at 5:30 p.m. The host is Poiema Carpets & Interiors, located at 206 W. Center St. in Kalispell.

CFYSA meeting Oct. 23

Columbia Falls Youth Softball Association (CFYSA) will have a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Community Center in Columbia Falls. The public is invited to attend.

Board member positions are open and those who may be interested in applying must submit a letter of interest to the board. It must include why you want to become a member and what talents you would bring to the association. Please bring your letter to the meeting.

Speaker at MIFC Oct. 24

Moving Image Fitness Center in Columbia Falls is sponsoring a program that will feature a speaker about breast cancer awareness on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. The location is 235 Nucleus Ave.

Youth food drive under way

Youth from St. Richard's Church will be going door-to-door to collect food for the Columbia Falls Food Bank on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Any donations would be appreciated.

Child Find screening set Oct. 25-26

The annual School District 6 and School District 8 Child Find screening is set for Thursday and Friday, Oct. 25-26. The screening for Columbia Falls, Canyon and West Glacier students is from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the Glacier Gateway kindergarten building, 440 4th Ave. West.

Screening is for pre-school-aged children, birth to 5 years old, and for those 5-year-olds who will NOT be attending kindergarten.

This is a free service provided by School Districts 6 and 8 as required by the State of Montana's special education and Section 504 regulations.

Artist reception set Oct. 26

Some of the Flathead's finest artists will be featured during an artist reception at Arrowhead Fine Art & Framing, 422 Nucleus Ave. in Columbia Falls (across from Smith's), on Friday, Oct. 26 from 5 to 9 p.m. The artists include Juan de Santa Anna, Jean Hand Troil, Laurel Emert, Lisa Schaus, Nancy Meyer and Monte Yellow Bird.

Hors d'oeuvres, hot cider and spirits will be offered and everyone is welcome to attend.

Haunted house Oct. 26

Columbia Falls Student Council is hosting a haunted house on Friday, Oct. 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the loop in front of the high school.

The haunted house will be in several school buses. The cost is $2 per person.

Vista Chapter meets Oct. 27

Vista Chapter No. 44, O.E.S., will have special session on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Columbia Falls Masonic Temple. The occasion is the official visit of Gayle Holland of Forsyth, worthy grand matron of the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Montana.

Mo Veerkamp, Victor, worthy grand patron, will be among guests attending from throughout Montana.

Local officers presiding are PGM Eddy Lou Benson, worthy matron, and Curtis Peterson, worthy patron.

Members of Vista Chapter reside in Columbia Falls, Whitefish, Eureka and Libby.

'Christmas Is in the Air' tryouts

Tryouts for the annual "Christmas Is in the Air" variety show are Monday, Oct. 29 and Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 5150 River Lakes Parkway. This is a new location, just off Highway 93 and Highway 40.

This show raises money to benefit Shepherd's Hand Clinic, a free health clinic for people without medical insurance.
